VALE Les Wiltshire OAM

It is with great sadness that we announce that Mr Les Wiltshire OAM passed away today.

Les was a Foundation Member of the Warringah Council Section 355 Management Committee for the Curl Curl Sports Centre
(Netball building) and served as Treasurer on this committee from 1984 for over 20 years, was a Foundation Member of the Manly Vale Community Centre Kindergarten and served on the Section 355 Management Committee for many years and was a Member and Treasurer of the Curl Curl Youth and Community Centre Section 355 Management Committee. In recognition of his outstanding service to Warringah Council Section 355 Management Committees and other community and sporting organisations, he was honoured and named Warringah's Australian of the Year.


Together with his wonderful wife, Vera, he served in Netball for over five decades.  

Les was the Foundation Auditor of the Manly Warringah Netball (then Womens') Basketball Association from 1965, and was a member of the Association's Canteen, Judiciary and Carnival Sub-Committees. A Foundation Member of the Queenscliff Netball Club serving as Auditor, delegate to MWNA, Treasurer, Grader, Coach, Umpire and Patron. He was also for many years the Auditor for the Queenscliff Ladies' Amateur Swimming Club.

In honour of his outstanding service to the community he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia, named Warringah Australian of the Year, conferred Life Membership of Queenscliff Netball Club and the Manly Warringah Netball Association's Outstanding Service Award in 2015.

Family and friends are warmly invited to a Service of Celebration for Les' life to be held at Holy Trinity Church, Beacon Hill, at 10:00am on Thursday, 14th December.
