Netball NSW Hall of Fame Inductee, 1988, Anne Sargeant OAM has had a stellar career in Netball starting out as an 8 year old player with Forest Netball Club at Manly-Warringah Netball Association.
For year Anne was a MWNA Rep player and coach, MWNA Selector and member of the MWNA Appointments Panel.
Anne was honoured as a MWNA Life Membership in 1986.
As well as representing NSW Anne Sargeant represented Australian Netball for over a decade, 1978 - 1988, captaining the Australian Netball Team for six years.
In 1988 she was inducted into the NSW Sport Hall of Fame.
Anne’s representations have included the Australian Sports Commission, the NSW Australia Day Council, Children’s Week, Board Member – McDonald’s, School Sport 2000 Committee and Patron of the 1994 Year of the Coach.
Her talents as a public speaker are highly regarded and resulted in Anne being awarded the Communicator of the Year Award by the Public Relations Institute of Australia.
In addition, Anne’s talents include respected columnist, after-dinner and motivational speaker.
In 1998 Anne was awarded an Order of Australia Medal ‘for service to netball’.
In 2004, Anne was named Sydney’s Greatest Ever Netballer.
In 2004 the MWNA Anne Sargeant Representative Player Trophy was instituted.
On November 29, 2008, Anne was the first inductee admitted into the Australian Netball Hall of Fame, an enormous honour recognising her outstanding contribution to the sport of Netball.
In 2010 Anne was honoured with a Netball NSW Life Membership.
2010 to current - Australian Diamonds National Selector.
In November, 2014, Anne was inducted into the NSW Hall of Legends. The first ever netballer to be inducted.
In October, 2015, Anne was elevated in the Sport Australia Hall of Fame to #Legend. The first ever netballer to be inducted.
In November, 2015, Anne was elevated in the Netball NSW Hall of Fame to #Legend #1.
2016 to current - specialist coach for the Manly Warringah Sapphires.
Anne has been a Patron of MWNA since 2005.
